Head Gardener set to start his own business

Barry Holman, Head Gardener of the Whatley Manor Hotel & Spa in the Cotswolds will leave his post at the end of March to start his own Garden Design business; Barry Holman Gardens.

Barry says, “Having spent twelve wonderful years at Whatley Manor, I’ve decided it’s time for a new adventure and I intend to create lasting and beautiful outdoor spaces for private homeowners.”

Barry originally restored gardens neglected for over thirty years in a project which began two years before the special place officially opened its doors to guests. 26 distinct ‘rooms’ of garden were created and nurtured to the wonderful mix of classical and contemporary gardens which now greet visitors to this award winning hotel.

Wisley trained Barry was also in charge of gardens at the Coverwood Estate in Surrey, worked on the Lyegrove Estate in Badminton and assisted with exhibits for the Chelsea Flower Show and Liverpool Garden Festival.

Barry Holman Gardens will focus on outstanding garden design, restoration, maintenance, landscaping and consulting.
